Welcome to “Wildlife Photography with Prasad Siriwardena,” a vibrant showcase of the diverse and captivating world of wildlife photography.
As a proud Sri Lankan, I have embraced wildlife photography as more than just a hobby; it’s a passion that has taken me on incredible journeys not only across the varied landscapes of Sri Lanka but also to numerous countries around the globe. My camera has been my faithful companion in the wilds of Kenya, capturing the essence of Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Mount Kenya, and Nairobi National Park. Beyond Kenya, I’ve had the privilege of photographing the majestic beauty of India’s Ranthambore, the rugged terrains of Australia, the historical richness of Germany, the picturesque canals of the Netherlands, Luxembourg’s lush forests, Japan’s cultural tapestry, China’s vastness, Singapore’s and Hong-Kong modernity, the serene beaches of the Maldives, Thailand’s exotic allure, Vietnam’s dynamic streets, the UAE’s opulence, Bangladesh’s cultural diversity, and Malaysia’s tropical beauty.
In Sri Lanka, my heart is deeply connected to Yala National Park in the Southern Province and Wilpattu National Park in the Central Province. These sanctuaries are where I find immense joy in capturing the untamed beauty of nature and wildlife. Internationally, Kenya remains my favourite destination, offering unparalleled opportunities to photograph wildlife in its most natural and breathtaking state.
I am a proud member of The Photographic Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) and The Photographic Society of America (PSA), communities that have significantly contributed to refining my skills. My photographic journey owes much to my mentor, Mr. Panduka De Silva, who has provided invaluable theoretical and practical knowledge. Dr Kalinga Padmalal has been an inspiring teacher in my quest to understand and appreciate the natural world, and I am deeply thankful for his guidance.
Photography and travel are passions that resonate deeply within my family. My spouse, Damitha Niroshanie, and our two daughters, Ama and Emma, are not just my biggest supporters; they share my excitement and love for nature and photography. Together, we embark on these adventures, capturing moments and creating memories that resonate across a lifetime.
Join me in this visual journey as I continue to explore and capture the wonders of the wild through my lens.
